Dragon gave birth to nine sons, each son is different
Dragon king gave birth to nine sons, after growing up, each son had a different appearance as well as character.
Dragon king saw his son has grown but had nothing to do; he wanted to give each of them a responsibility. He decided to secretly test them in order to properly organize them based on their demeanour and ability, and so, he disguised as a poor suffering old man and began his private visits.
Dragon king left the palace and first visited the domicile of his eldest son, Prepjoy. He sneakily sneaked into the garden and saw Prepjoy alone practicing strength with a big rock on his head. Although Prepjoy was sweaty all over; however, he continued to practice. Dragon king saw and thought this child is hardworking and willing to do hard labour and immediately left the garden.
Dragon king next visited the home of his second eldest son, Chikiss. He hasn't even set foot into the entrance and already saw Chikiss standing on the rooftop looking in all four directions. Dragon king thought this child likes to climb high and look around and so he decided to leave and head to the third son's, Polo, home. Halfway there, he heard the sound of Polo's howl. Dragon king thought his voice is so bold and loud that it travels across the four directions; he must give him an appropriate task.
Dragon king turned around to head towards the home of his fourth son, Bion. He hasn't even stepped in and already heard Bion talking loudly, without anyone daring to interrupt, about absolutely nothing of importance. Dragon king thought, this son is handsome and strong and likes to debate and talk; he already decided where to place him.
After that, Dragon king went to the home of the fifth son, Jumteep. On his way there, he saw a lot of people shouldering all sorts of food towards Jumteep's home. He knew in his heart this son loves to eat to a fault and must provide him with a task related to food in the future. He turned around and headed towards his sixth son's, Paha, home. As he arrived at the pond in front of Paha's home, he saw Paha was playing happily in the pond; the water he spewed turned into mist and he created waves and tides. Dragon king saw that he liked the water and decided what to do in his heart.
Following that, Dragon king went towards seventh son's, Abae, home. There was no other residence within the distance of ten you* from Abae's home; it was eerily quiet, so quiet that you can hear a fallen leaf. Dragon king came across a person who appeared to be frightened and quickly went to the person to stop him and ask a question. That person said, "Dragon king's seventh son has a deadly aura, no one dares to go near him, I suggest that you also don't go there, quickly hide far far away!"
Dragon king heard and decided what to do. At this time he thought of his eighth son, Shuiyi. Although Shuiyi had a terrifying appearance, he was actually peaceful and very different from this particular older brother.
At last, the Dragon king went to see the youngest, Sukto. All he saw was Sukto home was surrounded by four tall walls and had notice boards posted far away informing the average man to stay away. He knew this son liked to be alone and knew what to do.
After determining his nine son's character, he returned to his dragon palace and requested his nine sons to come. Dragon king sent out his command, "You have all grown to be adults, I will provide each of you with a task: Prepjoy is cool, can endure and is responsible. From this day forth, you shall carry all the monuments below the sky; Chikiss likes to climb high and look far away. From this day forth, you shall watch guard at the two corners of temple rooftops; Polo has a bold and loud voice, can act as the voice of the bell; Bion has a strong and powerful appearance, likes to participate in debate and discussions, you can be the decorations to jail entrances; Jumteep loves to eat to a fault, can be the pictures to pots with three legs; Paha likes to play in water. From this day forth, watch guard at the fence on bridges; Abae has a heavy deadly aura, can be the handle to swords and knives; Shuiyi has a terrifying appearance but is peaceful, can watch guard at places of worship and look after statues of Buddhas; Sukto do not like lay people, great for guarding palaces and temples."
From then on, Dragon king's nine sons stood at their respective place for all of eternity. The turtle below monuments are not turtles, it is the eldest son of the Dragon king. The dragon on top of roofs is the second dragon son. The thing on top of ancient bells is the dragon's third son. The beast before the entrance to jail is the dragon's fourth son. The picture on ancient pots with three legs is the dragon's fifth son. The stone lion on fence of ancient bridges is the dragon's sixth son. The illustration on swords and knives is the dragon's seventh son. The beast ontop of the pot of incense and below the statutes of Buddha is the dragon's eighth son. The beast on the door handle before palaces and temples is the dragon's ninth son.
The saying "Dragon gave birth to nine sons, each son is different" is with respect to this matter.
