Continent Wise, also known as the open light beast, had a human face and tiger's body, had nine heads, a very powerful appearance.  Inside the palace was a lot of red phoenixes, watching guards of tools and clothes. The highest point in the palace had a plant of straws, four elephants in height and thick as five walls.  West had pearl, jade and star trees; East had sand sweet and pretty elegant trees. Sky Stairs

Image
According to tales, people of the ancient time could follow the sky stairs step by step to reach the sky, at the same time the gods in the sky could also use the sky stairs to go down to the human world.  However, it was not easy to know where these connections to the sky hall was and, even if one had such information, it was just as, if not more, difficult to climb such connections.  Like Brocode Hill v. 2.0, everyone knew it was directly below the Sky King, its highest point reached the sky hall; however, the hill had weak water circulation at the bottom and it was surrounded by hot fire mountains; an average human could not go up. Brocode Hill v. 2.0's surrounding area of an unknown distance was occupied by many gods and goddesses like Westqueenma lived West North corner of Jade Mountain, while Westqueenma's husband, Eastkingpa, lived at East North corner; this was only one area of land.   Brocode Hill v. 2.0's had many magical flowers, r...

CLID and Suddenass went to play at Foolish's whenever they were free, Foolish warmly welcomed them every visit and was very attentive.  When foolish was happy, he even danced personally to entertain his guests.  CLID and Suddenass were very grateful. One day, CLID and Suddenass went separately to visit Foolish again, halfway there they ran into each other. Neuwa slays Healthuturn

Image
At the last year of the name of Fuhei, a ghoulish man, named (aka Healthuturn*), appeared on Hope Island.  This bronze head metal forehead, red hair, snake body man had an extremely mean and scary appearance, his demeanours were especially aggressive and his temper was bad.  As luck would have it, the hundreds of names there were courageous and fearless, and so he was chosen to be their leader.  He led his underlings everywhere, invaded and conquered foreign places by water attacks; he was about to be named King in nine continents.  Unfortunately, Fuhei's little sister, Neuwa, would not bend and was against him. Neuwa had a grotesque appearance, an ugly human face matched with a snakish body, but she knew and could do many things; she could change things seventy times in one day, she could change whatever she wanted to change; you could say she was the first ancient heroine among the thousands of tales from the sky below. After Fuhei's death, Neuwa became his ...

Fuhei and Neuwa

Image
Heavy clouds, howling wind, roaring thunder; pounding rain was coming at the blink of an eye.  One man urgently placed dried moss he regularly gathered on top of a rooftop made of tree skins to prevent the heavy rain from breaking the roof. His only son and daughter were only ten years of age; probably used to summer's heavy thunder and rain; not scared; continued to play innocently with mud outside and, only occasionally, lifted their heads to look at their father.  The man finished placing the moss on the roof, got down and brought the children into the house.  Heavy rain began crying down as soon as they entered the door. The rain got heavier with each fall, the wind blew faster with each blast, the boom bomb* thunder roar louder with each shout; it seemed like the thunder grandpapa (aka ThunderGong) up above was angry and was throwing a temper tantrum that was disaster-like to people. The man saw the situation from inside the house, seemed to realize a catas...

Purify Stones Patch Sky

Image
According to myths, once upon a time, there was no sky; no land; no mountains, hills, lakes, or rivers; no flowers, grasses, trees or woods; no flying beasts nor walking animals; and, obviously, no humankind.  The millions of living creatures came only after axeman axed open the sky and land.  In an undocumented year, a piece of the West sky suddenly fell which created a hole and caused the water from the sky river to flow down to the human world in a wail and drowned countless humans, working animals and pets; the overflow of sky river immediately flooded the world below the sky. At that time, there was a girl named Neuwa who resided in a cave on the cliff of a mountain that was unreachable by any sky water.  She saw first-hand the misfortune afflicted upon hundreds of names, felt empathetic towards their troubles and vowed to patch up the sky.  She left her residential cave at the cliff, climbed countless mountainous hills, glided across many great rivers, w...

NEUWA

Image
Axeman axed open the sky and land; used his body to make the sun, the moon, starlight, mountains, grass and trees.  The remnants of foggy stuff (that did not float to the top or sink to the bottom) became insects, fishes, birds and beasts which brought life to the otherwise dead and lonely world. At this time, a goddess,  (aka NEUWA), walked across this lively natural wilderness.  She let her eyes gaze everywhere and saw mountain rising, rivers and streams flowing, forest growing, plants blossoming, hundreds of birds flying and singing in the sky, beasts running across the land, fishes playing in the water and insects jumping in grassy areas, according to hearsay these little additions made the world quite pretty.  However, she always felt an indescribable feeling of loneliness; the longer she looked the more she felt frustrated, the feeling of loneliness was growing stronger and stronger, even she cannot figure out why she was feeling this way. She spoke with th...

AXEMAN

Image
According to legends, at the very beginning, the sky and the land were not separated.  The entire universe was like a big egg; everything was very blurry, everything was black; it was hard to tell right from left or north south east west.  However, inside the egg, there was a hero in the making, this person opened the sky and broke ground.  His name is and was .  We will call him AXEMAN in English because this translator does not like spelling out sounds and have trouble remembering Chinese names that are (phonetically) spelled out.  Besides this translator (or future readers) may pronounce his name incorrectly. Therefore, our hero requires a nickname, being AXEMAN. AXEMAN was in development in the egg for a total of eighteen thousand (18,000) years and finally awoke from his deep slumber.  He opened his eyes; felt everything was black and foggy, and an unbearable heat rendering him incapable of breathing. He wanted to stand but his body was so tightl...

About this Blog

The numbers set out in the web address of this blog is the ISBN to a book I have been meaning to read since I was a child.  When I was little, I could not read it.  I deemed the language was too hard. When I got older, I still cannot read it because my reading Chinese comprehension is basically that of an elementary school kid.  I also did not have time to read because I am "busy". If I do not read this book in its entirety now, I may never read the whole thing.  This book is a compilation of one hundred and ninety (190 ) Myths and Legends of China.  I have read a few stories in this book many times but never read every single story so I am just going to start reading from page one (1) to page three hundred and sixty-four (364).  I will finish reading this book in one hundred and ninety (190) days or earlier. Reading this book has always been something I wanted to do.  This year, I am going to do it! I hope some people would like my translation....
